"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19
“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” Philippians 3:13
With every day, we’re presented with a choice. Live in that day. Stay there. Hold on to what happened there. OR---process it (both the good and the bad) and move on to what God has in your “next”. What does “next” look like for you? God only knows the details, but be sure that your “next” is better than your past! That’s the way God works! The best is always in front of you---your home, your marriage, and your family! In other words---your BEST days are still ahead! That doesn’t necessarily mean all days will be easy, that you will feel in love every day or that your spouse will turn into sheer perfection. It doesn’t mean that you’ll never have another disagreement or another problem. It doesn’t mean that you’ll never mess up or fail again. However, if you keep the focus on God, keep pursuing His ways, and keep getting up and pushing forward, you will see that God is working and that you are making progress with Him and with each other like never before. God intends for you to “....see the goodness of the Lord while in the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13) You will see your life and marriage on a steady incline towards God’s perfect will. More love! More intimacy! More fun! Better sex! Better conversations! The life you dreamed of and so very much more----more than your eyes have seen, ears have heard, or mind has imagined---is waiting for you! Get after it! Get ready! Get ready! Get ready! Your best days are in front of you!
