Finding A Family Rhythm

Rhythm is vital to many things; music, your heartbeat, dance, and poetry—just to name a few. What we fail to see sometimes is the importance of rhythm to life itself and family life specifically.  Managing a our role at home, a job, children and their schedules, a possible role at church, and then all the other demands on time, is a daunting task. That’s why finding rhythm is so important. When there’s no rhythm, there is great pain experienced and little productivity enjoyed. Usually family relationships suffer most as a result. The ugliness of a song that’s out of rhythm or the debilitating results of a heart out of rhythm, reveals what happens when there’s no pattern or controlled movements in family life. There must be a rhythm and balance between work and rest, striving and play. Finding rhythm in all of life is as vital to your family as the rhythm of your heartbeat is to your very life! We’re easily pulled into others' urgencies. We’re swayed by expectations. We get distracted and forget our priorities. In the new year, let’s find a healthy rhythm for family life, and watch the fruit of it as it makes us more effective in every role we fill!
