Nobody gets married or starts a family hoping it will crumble one day! Families don’t intentionally plan for their destruction. Most all desire success, want love that fulfills and that stays passionate, want children that are productive—and so much more. The truth is, however, that none of our desires for fruitfulness at home will be fulfilled by relying on our own wisdom or by following the latest sociological or psychological ideals or the latest whim of culture. The key to what we desire is held in the scripture that Eric and I have held to for decades; Psalms 127. “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build…” Search the Word for the Creator’s principles for building. Then, walk in obedience! Building God’s way will require tough love, dealing in truth, big doses of forgiveness, a dedication to making some unpopular decisions and even required disciplines. God will help us build homes that impact the world around us, that witness to the great love of Christ, and that serve as model homes! This isn’t for a select few. God will build the house! Let’s cooperate with the promise and watch God perform His Word!
